Brussels
Brussels can easily be reached by train, within one hour from Bruges train station. Brussels is so much more than the capital of Belgium and the capital of the European Union. A lot of Belgium's most exciting tourist attractions are located here, from medieval buildings to quality museums offering expositions of contemporary art on a daily basis.
Since its central role, it's needless to say that there are a lot of 4 star hotels in Brussels. Sometimes ofcourse hotels in Brussels are too expensive so it's recommended to take your time before choosing one. Only during the weekends prices of hotels in Brussels are a lot cheaper than hotels in Bruges or Antwerp.
Ghent
It's absolutely recommended to visit Ghent if you want to stay in a city that offers countless possibilities without being too crowdy. By train, It only takes you 20min to reach Ghent from Bruges.
A lottle of people will be proven wrong when they say that hotels in Ghent haven't got the same charm than hotels in Bruges. This is absolutely not the case since most 4 star hotels in Gent are as good as those in Bruges.
Hotels in Bruges are in fact slightly more expensive than their counterparts hotels in Gent, mainly because of the fact that there are more tourists visiting Bruges every year. There's only one exception for this during summer when 2 million visitoris attend the ten day long street festival called the 'Ghent Fests'.
Antwerp
Slightly over an hour by train from Bruges and you're in Antwerp, the city of diamonds and fashion. Time Magazine recently put Antwerp in the renowned top ten list of most interesting cities worldwide, probably due to its very rich cultural history.
A visit to Antwerp, Fashion Capital of the Lowlands, is absolutely worthwile. It also hosts one of the most famous zoos in the world, which can be a fun and interesting triop when the weather during your stay in Bruges turns out to be real bad. Here and there your hotel in Antwerpen will remind you of Bruges, because of its location in the historical city centre.
Ofcourse most hotels in Antwerp will have more urban characteristics (due to the size of the city) than hotels in Bruges, although these hotels in Antwerpen are fully comparable for most other quality features.
